OOPS. I completely forgot to take a photo of the day today! This is about the time that I fell behind with last year's project. But, I am not going to let that happen again, so I am going to share one of my favorite photos instead. This is an old photograph taken in 2004 when I did an MBA course in Germany. The little photographer inside of me was just starting to blossom.

Today was the funeral of a friend's dad who passed away from a long battle with pulmonary hypertension. It was heartbreaking. But, it was also beautiful to witness the love and the celebration of his life.

To my dear friend Bernie: It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter.  And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that will help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.

I had a presentation today at South Coast AQMD to secure a grant for the programs I manage. I arrived early and took this time to just walk around and practice my speech (camera in hand of course). I snapped this photo of a heart shaped leaf, then nervously stepped into the boardroom. My preparations paid off- the committee was impressed and approved the request. I hope that my passion and love for the program shined through.

What a beautiful Saturday.. crisp air, warm sun, blue sky, birds chirping... After being cooped up indoors all week, Lily was ecstatic to finally be able to run outside. She loves her bubbles and is now an expert at blowing them.  In fact, her daycare teachers recently told me that she is the only one in her class that knows how, and the other children stand around her in awe as she shows off.

Lily had a fever last night, so I stayed home with her today. She had a 15 minute tantrum because she wanted to blow bubbles on the patio. Finally, I opened the sliding glass door just to show her that it was raining and wet outside. I also took that opportunity to take a quick photo. That brief encounter with the fresh outdoors was enough to appease her.

The warm weather in January has been quite ridiculous.  I was hoping to wear the cute sweaters and scarves that I bought during my Christmas shopping spree, but instead I must pull out my summer dresses and sandals.  But no complaints... I am lucky for the opportunity to absorb the warmth of the sun and surround myself with the palm trees lining Wilshire Blvd.

It is only the first week of Project 365 and I am not yet motivated.  With my outlook inbox full of unread emails, a pile of unopened mail, and a long list of phone messages I must return- it's hard to focus.  Before I got bogged down with more catching up, I took a quick photo of my Banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) from the new lunch truck "Phamish" that parks in front of my building. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't capture the essence of its yumminess.

1. Sew What?

Originally uploaded by simple.joys

Here we go again...
Its a New Year, and besides taking more photos, another resolution is to finish the many sewing projects that I have started.  I have unfinished throw pillow covers, pajama pants, and a baby quilt.  I vow to complete these before another year ends.  And I vow to complete the Project 365 project.  It is the only way that I will grow and get better.

Project 365: Attempt #2

Attempt #1 was a huge FAIL.  Hopefully, this time around is much more successful.  My daughter is now 18 months old and growing before my eyes, and I want to be sure that I capture every special moment.  Lets go 2010!
